Dots is an abstract turn-based intellectual strategy board game with a fixed number of players and full information. It presumably originated in the Soviet Union as a spontaneous adaptation of Go to local realities and ideas about beauty. It is almost certainly familiar to people whose school or student years fell on the 80-90s of the twentieth century. The definition "sports" next to the name of the game appeared recently and reflects the desire of a few but persistent enthusiasts to create an entourage of a full-fledged sports discipline around their hobby.
